The Early Years 1888-1933
- 1888 – Founded as Walsall Town Swifts Football Club, an amalgamation of Walsall Town F.C. and Walsall Swifts F.C. The beginning of a cracking football club!
- 1896 – Walsall TS beat Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C to win the Birmingham Senior Cup, and then they went on the beat Aston Villa, in the Birmingham Charity Cup final.
- 1896 – Moved into the new Hillary Street Ground, which was re-named Fellows Park at a later date. This was Walsall's home, on and off, until 1990 when the Bescot Stadium was built.
- 1933 – The Saddlers beat Arsenal 2-0 in the FA Cup, goals coming from the late great Gilbert Alsop & Bill Sheppard. This particular result still regarded as one of the greatest FA Cup upsets of all time. The attendance that day was 24,032, must have been one tight squeeze!
